What the JSON looks like
The first row of the CSV is read as the header. Every row after it becomes one object in a JSON array, with a key for each header: name, city over Ada,Leeds becomes [{"name": "Ada", "city": "Leeds"}].
Values stay strings, exactly as the CSV had them. A converter that guesses which columns are numbers or dates turns ZIP codes into integers and drops their leading zeros; this one leaves typing to you, where it can be checked.
Real CSVs, not the easy kind
Exported data has fields with commas inside quotes, quotes inside fields, and line breaks inside an address. The parser reads all of them the way a spreadsheet would, so a quoted address never shifts every column after it.
Going the other way? The JSON to CSV converter turns an array of objects back into a table.

Questions
CSV to JSON: common questions
Are numbers converted to numbers?
No. Every value is kept as the string the CSV contained, so nothing is guessed: identifiers with leading zeros, phone numbers and codes survive intact.
What if a row has fewer fields than the header?
The missing keys are filled with empty strings, so every object has the same keys in the same order.
Is my CSV uploaded?
No. It is read and converted by this page in your browser. There is no server that receives it.
